Finance Manager (Freelance)

We’re seeking a dynamic and hardworking freelance finance manager with at least 3 years’ experience who can thrive being part of a small but highly effective team (4 part-time staff).

The ideal candidate will have experience of similar work for a small arts company with a proven understanding of the processes required to handle quarterly management accounts, prepare end of year accounts and manage the monthly payroll. A detailed job description can be found below.

Job Purpose
Provision of full management accounting services, including the preparation of quarterly and annual management accounts 

Hours
Approximately 4-5 hours per week

Main Responsibilities

• Maintaining the company’s financial records on Sage 50 Accounts software
• Ensuring the financial records are accurate and up to date
• Working with the General Manager to ensure financial procedures are followed across the company
• Producing quarterly management accounts, and cash flow forecasts
• Preparation of monthly payroll (FOR 4 part-time staff). Filing RTI with HMRC and liaising with the general manager to ensure prompt payment of PAYE. 
• Preparation and online filing of quarterly VAT returns.
• Managing and monitoring sales and purchase ledger debtors and creditors. 
• Preparation of year end accounts and relevant backup documentation for submission to the company’s auditors.

Person Specification

• A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role. 
• Would suit part qualified ACCA/CA, working on a freelance basis.
• A good working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts
• Experience of working in an arts background and a working knowledge of charities accounts would be advantageous 
• Experience of:
o financial management of a small company 
o working with sizeable and numerous project budgets 
o preparation of quarterly management accounts
o payroll processing
o preparation of VAT returns
o preparing year end accounts
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work to tight deadlines
• Strong Microsoft Office skills
