Thank you to everyone who came to one of our concerts on tour this spring in New Galloway, Stirling, Dunfermline, Perth, Dundee, Elgin, Greenock and Galashiels! We had a brilliant time showcasing our latest Fiddlesticks programme, which featured top tunes from classical to ceilidh, and of course another round of Junk Trunk concerts - which meant we could get creative with the recycling again and experiment with some really cool sounds using everyday stuff at home! We hope you enjoyed the concerts as much as we did planning them! Watch this space for the latest news about our upcoming 2015-16 season concerts with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO)! On 9th March 2015, we ventured North to present our latest family show-stopper, Fiddlesticks in Elgin Town Hall. With top tunes from classical to ceilidh there was something for everyone! The concert was rounded off in style by Moray Music Centre's Junior String Orchestra; showcased below! This was the result of just 45 mins preparation earlier in the day with our dynamic duo, Owen and Olly (Owen had just been Superman in the previous number, hence the t-shirt!) the fantastic Fejes Quartet and inspirational Scottish composer, Savourna Stevenson. A short excerpt from Savourna's setting of the Snow Queen was used as a basis for this improvisation. We thought they did an amazing job of creating an eerie atmosphere, well done to all!

They’ll be bringing Savourna’s setting of Hans Christian Anderson’s story, The Snow Queen to life - a fantastic chance to learn about how musical sounds are built up to create atmospheric and thrilling music. The young people can let their imaginations run wild and will be making a real contribution to Savourna’s existing score; the workshop experience will be made all the more meaningful by their involvement and performance in the concert.Children’s Classic Concerts presenter Owen Gunnell: “Really looking

Thanks to everyone who came along at the weekend to celebrate with us at our pre-Christmas parties in Glasgow and Edinburgh! We thoroughly enjoyed Deck the Halls with Owen and Olly, and it's been lovely to hear that you did too! We've had quite a few requests about the 12 Tunes of Christmas finale (we jam-packed 12 of the best seasonal songs into the tune of 12 Days of Christmas, complete with actions (courtesy of and copyrighted by Owen and Olly!) so we thought we'd lend a helping hand so you can remember it all (downloadable PDF available here)! It would make a wonderful after-dinner game on Christmas Day - get the whole family going and work off those mince pies! If you're particularly pleased with the family's efforts -
Over the past few days, we've realised that we've been showing up as sold out on the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall website, but this is a glitch - there are in fact plenty of tickets still available for both the 1pm and 3pm showings of Deck the Halls with Owen & Olly! Please also be careful to select tickets for the correct time as even when you click through our site for the 3pm - the online booking system on the concert hall's page defaults to 1pm. For 3pm, please click on the drop down arrow to select it! Seems as though the Grinch has been up to his usual tricks!!
