Owen: To start off not that much, but when I wanted to get into music college, hours on end!
Olly: It varies depending on how busy I am! Anything between 0 and 6 hours…

How did you meet?

Owen: First day of college, I found all the percussionists on the list, and went and knocked on their doors so we could get together and a have drink –tea or coffee!?
Olly: We met at the Royal College of Music in London.

What are your favourite instruments?

Owen: Probably the vibes, but it depends what day it is.
Olly: My favourite is probably the marimba, though I love all kinds of African, Brazilian and Cuban percussion too!

Which is the most difficult to play?

Owen: It depends which instrument, you’ve done the least practice on, so for me, the drum kit, I’ve never practised on them, and that’s why I’m rubbish!
Olly: Probably the marimba…

How much do instruments cost?

Olly: The marimba about £12000, the vibe £3500. Put it like this, I own a lot of instruments, and that’s why I don’t own a house or have any savings!!!

Owen: Anything really, that’s what can be great about being a percussionist, you play such a mix of music!

What kind of music do you listen to when you’re not practising or performing?

Owen: Lots of stuff from minimalist music by Steve Reich to disco music, like Chic or even a bit of 80’s power rock, like Toto –I’m cool!
