Whether you are looking for a hands-on musical activity for the whole family, something creative to occupy the little ones or just looking for some good old-fashioned entertainment, look no further. Our range of Music Sparks resources combine videos and downloadable activity packs to keep the creative juices flowing over the holidays. No instruments or prior musical training is required, and projects are designed for you to dip in and out, making them perfect for a busy a family schedule.
Owen’s Percussion Store
Ever wondered what Owen gets up to when he’s not rushing around the CCC stage? Take a sneaky peek into the percussion warehouse where all the magic happens – Owen’s percussion store is bursting with instruments (some you might never have seen before!), props and costumes, and in this series of 12 videos, you will hear from Owen in his natural habitat sharing fun facts about the percussion family and treating viewers at home to some sparkling solo performances.
Create Your Own Concerts
A CCC performance is actually the final stage in a long process of planning and programming (and lots of fun!!) at CCC HQ. Curious, creative minds will love this chance to let their imaginations run wild as they put together their very own dream concert guided by videos and tips from CCC staff. From choosing a theme and concert title, designing a poster image, to choosing music and costumes, this project explores all the stage involved in achieving what our audiences see on stage.
Junk Trunk
Get craft daft with this hands on project for all the family and learn how to turn junk into funk! Discover the science behind sound as Owen and members of the CCC team show how to transform your recycling into some pretty cool instruments – check out Jemma’s drum kit and you’ll see what we mean!! Once you have made and decorated your instrument you will be ready to jam with the team in our play along video. Music, art and a bit of eco-action – what more could you ask for!
Acorns to Oaks
This project is all about celebrating nature and the power of music to connect us. Designed originally for use in nursery and care home settings, as well as within the family, this series of videos and activities explores the sounds that are all around us and encourages cross generational collaboration to promote positive mental health. With step-by-step instructions and the flexibility to choose activities to suit your setting and time frame, this is a great project for a long summer holiday especially if the grandparents are visiting.
Music Tells a Story
Imagine a film or TV programme without music… no, we can’t either! In this project, participants are encouraged to become authors and composers and create a musical soundtrack to an original story. No ‘real’ instruments or previous experience is required – this could be another opportunity to showcase the Junk Trunk instruments or even common household objects that are hiding their musical potential – did you know that an umbrella can be a musical instrument? Find out how in this series exploring self-expression and creative freedom.
