Django’s Journey

Join us on an adventure to discover all about gypsy jazz…

CCC is delighted to present the resource to accompany the release of the new concert film, ‘Django’s Journey’. Not only can you enjoy the jazz-pedition from the comfort of your own home (or school!) but you can also enjoy learning even more about Gypsy Jazz and Django Reinhardt.

In this resource you’ll explore the heritage and culture of Gypsy Jazz music and the life of the famous Romani musician (who our incredible cat puppet is named after!); you’ll learn about the instruments played by the musicians in Rose Room (and of course Owen!); and you’ll even have the opportunity to create your very own cat puppet.

There are also some fun opportunities for young music-makers. Everyone can jam along with Owen and try some body percussion grooves, and for string players, you can learn some warm up exercises and tips from violinist and singer, Seonaid Aitken, and also play along to ‘Caravan’.

‘Django’s Journey’:

  • Requires no previous musical experience or instruments
  • Is flexible – there’s no set time frame or end date – and you can choose your own music if you like!
  • Is designed to meet selected Expressive Arts, Social Studies, Health and Wellbeing and Modern Language Experiences and Outcomes in Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence
