About Us
Children’s Classic Concerts (CCC) has a serious commitment to making music fun.
Our concerts are specifically designed to appeal to children age 4 – 12, but we also exist to create fun for all the family, so there really is something for everyone.
CCC performances last 1-hour and are full of popular classics (as well as music that might be less familiar) and audience participation. We make sure our marketing is friendly, that we choose relatable themes (with music to match) and fresh storylines – theatrically delivered with a real sense of fun. There is never any pressure to ‘sit still’. We want our audiences to be able to listen without limitations, providing entertainment suitable for neurodivergent family members.
CCC events might just be the springboard for inspiring future performers, musicians or composers in your family.
We are the only organisation in Scotland solely dedicated to delivering tailor-made concerts for children and families and reach over 14,000 people every year through performances and workshops.
CCC’s Artistic Director and Presenter, Owen Gunnell, is a world-renowned percussionist, but also a parent with a down to earth attitude and great sense of humour (cue the Dad jokes) making him hugely popular.

Values
Passion: for fostering the positive impact of hearing world-class orchestral music, especially for children experiencing it for the first time.
Respect: for children’s rights – we believe they are entitled to enriching cultural experiences that are as carefully considered and ambitious as those for adults.
Opportunity: ensuring young people are allowed to be inquisitive about music.
Understanding: of the priorities / needs of our audience. We understand the value of a relaxed and practical atmosphere and want everyone to feel that they belong.
Togetherness: acknowledging there is huge benefit to uniting family members and audiences of all generations through shared experiences.
Talent: nurturing creative partnerships and new skills helps develop and enrich the lives of people we work with and for, allowing our organisation to thrive.
Commitment: to our people (audiences, performers and other partners) – particularly regarding inclusivity – so that everyone can get involved without inhibitions or barriers.
It’s important to us that we uphold the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, especially:
Article 12: Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them,
and to have their views considered and taken seriously.
Article 29: Education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full.
Article 31: Every child has the right to rest, relax, play and to take part in cultural and creative activities.
