Django’s Journey 2022

WHAT

This May, as part of the Perth Festival of the Arts, Children’s Classic Concerts brings you Django’s Journey!

We would like to invite you on a captivating journey to explore how gypsy jazz began…And to make things even more exciting, there will be a very special guest joining Owen for this musical journey: Django the Cat! Fabulously brought to life by puppeteer Ella Mackay from Nudge Puppets, Django will tell us all about his travels: from the vibrant colours of India, to the pyramids of Egypt, through the countryside of Eastern Europe and cobbled streets of Spain and France.

Who else will accompany Owen and the jazz-loving Django on this jazz-pedition?! None other than the award-winning songstress and fiddler, Seonaid Aitken, and her band, Rose Room.

Our intrepid band of travelling musicians will be performing the premiere performance of Django’s Journey at Perth Festival of the Arts. And that’s not all - there will also be a series of workshops for you get behind-the-scenes to discover more about the music and instruments and maybe even meet Django himself!

This inspiring, interactive and inventive concert is perfect for 4–12-year-olds and their families and is sure to have everyone (whether they are 4 or 94) dancing in the aisles. So come along for a jam-packed hour of toe-tapping tunes! Maybe at the end of it we’ll realise that everybody wants to be a cat…!
