Roving Reviewers
Everyone has their own likes and dislikes – whether it’s about ice cream flavours, favourite colours, or what music they like. Isn’t it fascinating that one person can love something and another…well, doesn’t?! Individual opinions are valuable and should be heard, but sometimes it’s difficult to express these views to others. Roving Reviewers aims to help children learn the difference between fact and opinion, find their voice and articulate their unique thoughts and feelings.
We’ve developed this resource alongside Education Scotland to encourage children to explore their opinions and learn how to communicate them. In addition to ticking lots of outcomes in the Expressive Arts area of Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence, the activities are designed to meet Literacy Experiences and Outcomes.
Joining us for Roving Reviewers is professional reviewer, Kelly Apter, and our very own Owen Gunnell (with some performances by the Essential Orchestra along the way!). They’ll guide you through the review process and show you how to understand and express your opinions. You’ll even get to see some of our Junior Reviewers in action! Roving Reviewers:
- Promotes listening, writing and communicating
- Meets the Expressive Arts and Literacy Experiences and Outcomes in Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence
- Requires no previous musical experience or instruments
- Is flexible – there’s no set time frame or end date – and you can choose your own music if you like!
