Owen joins forces with musicians from Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra for a special weekend of workshops dedicated to families, putting you in the musical driving seat!
DAY ONE, SATURDAY 1 JUNE: Get involved with practical and creative sessions, exploring new pieces, free improvisation techniques and connections with other like-minded music fans. These sessions are designed to get you thinking outside of the box when it comes to producing sound and to be innovative with instruments and their capabilities – including your own bodies and voices! Be sure to select an age-appropriate time-slot, or the final workshop is open to all ages so long as you BYOI (Bring Your Own Instrument).
09.30 – 10.15: Workshop 1 (age recommendation: pre-school) all children must be accompanied by an adult
10.45 – 11.30: Workshop 2 (age recommendation: 6-12 years) children can attend on their own but accompanying adults must remain in the CCA
12.00 – 13.30: Workshop 3 (instrumentalists of all ages - including adults, Bring Your Own Instrument!)
DAY TWO, SUNDAY 2 JUNE: Take ownership and hear the results! An hour-long workshop will precede a concert finale (taking inspiration from ‘a day in Glasgow’) in which you get to have your say – where will you take Owen and the GIO musicians? What’s the story? You’re in control and make the rules, so help us come up with a music map (with different colours, shapes and costumes representing different playing techniques) and style your own sounds - there will be opportunities to get the audience involved throughout.
12.00 – 13.00: Pre-concert workshop
13.30 – 14.30: Concert finale
Come to both days or pick an event - expect the unexpected and let’s improvise!
